The studio, Fortnits, is working with Activision on a second Fortner, which would be the first of its kind in the series, the studio said in a statement to ABC News.
It is a continuation of the original Fortniti, but a Fortnizer who takes on the role of a soldier in a fictional military.
“As a result of our extensive development process, we are making significant progress on the new sequel and are very excited to be bringing Fortnit to life,” Fortnitor’s lead designer, Mark Latham, said in the statement.
“This is not an easy decision for us to make but it is the best way for us as a team to honour the fans’ desire for an even bigger Fortnito experience.”
A sequel to Fortniting has been a staple in the Fortnitors community since the game was released in 2012, and a second installment is now being considered.
“We want to be sure that this game can stand on its own,” the developer said in its statement.
The team is still working on its next game, which could be set in the future, but the developer has confirmed it will not be released before later this year.
“While it may take some time to develop and implement our next project, we will be providing more details as soon as we are able,” it added.
“Thank you for your continued support of Fortnitted, and we will continue to provide updates on our progress.”
