Samsung is set to launch its new Android gaming controller for Android smartphones on November 1, which the company claims will provide gamers with a game-changing new platform to play games on.
The device will be a smart phone app and feature the familiar Samsung logo and the words “Android game controller” inside.
It is expected to be priced at about $150 US, and the company is working on a number of other products, including a gaming headset, smart speakers, and a gaming controller.
The new controller is the latest in a series of innovations aimed at making smartphones a viable gaming platform.
The first one was Samsung’s Galaxy S3, which launched in 2011 and has since been a flagship device for Samsung, LG, Sony, and HTC.
Samsung has also released a slew of Android-powered smart TVs, gaming consoles, and other devices for use on the device.
In a post on its blog on November 8, Samsung’s VP of Product Marketing and Brand Management, Jun Song, said the new Android controller will provide a gaming experience “that you haven’t seen before”.
“The Android game pad, like many of the products we’re releasing today, will allow players to experience a new level of immersion in gaming,” Song wrote.
“In addition to the original Android gamepad, players can also now enjoy the new Smart Pad 2.0, which features two analog sticks, a button pad, and an LED indicator light.
Smart Pad is the new way to play, as it provides more intuitive and responsive control than previous gaming pad technologies.””
We’re excited to unveil the new Samsung Galaxy game pad on November 01 at the CES booth, and will provide further details later this month,” Song added.
“The Samsung Galaxy Smart Pad can be used on Samsung Galaxy smartphones, tablets, and TVs.”
Samsung’s new controller will also feature a new, “unmatched” 3D virtual reality (VR) technology that it claims will give users a “true 3D gaming experience”.
“Virtual reality is the next frontier of technology and innovation,” Song said.
“We’ve seen incredible results with games that utilize 3D to bring gamers new and exciting experiences.”
“While VR is still in its infancy, it is gaining momentum,” he continued.
“With this new controller, gamers can get a true 3D experience in the palm of their hands, with the Samsung Galaxy gaming pad.”
Samsung says that players can expect to experience “new and innovative” gameplay experiences, including “more realistic physics, more realistic visuals, and immersive audio and sound effects”, which are all part of the “unrivaled 3D VR gaming experience” provided by the new controller.
“We’ve developed a revolutionary new controller with unparalleled accuracy, and our team is dedicated to delivering the best experiences possible to gamers, regardless of device,” Song concluded.
“By delivering an unmatched VR gaming pad experience, we are confident our players will be able to reach new heights in VR.”
Samsung is also launching a series to give gamers a better understanding of its smart TVs.
The Smart TV Series will give consumers access to a number, of the company’s smart TVs and will include an “Advanced HDR TV”, which will be similar to a Samsung smart TV with HDR content that can be switched on or off from the Smart TV.
The Advanced HDR TV will also be compatible with Samsung’s Smart TV S4 line, which includes the Samsung Smart TV 5, Smart TV 6, and Smart TV 7.
Samsung also announced on November 3 that it will release a new line of Smart TV models, which will include the Samsung SM-D3D, SM-X3D and SM-M3D series.
The company has also announced a new smartphone called the Samsung K5.
The device will come with a 12.5-inch display and will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage.
The Samsung K series smartphones will also include an 8MP camera on the back and a 5MP front-facing camera, along with a 4,000mAh battery.
“Smart TVs are a new frontier for smartphone technology,” said Song.
“For gamers, this means more immersive experiences that will give them a real 3D-based gaming experience, and we’re excited for our players to start enjoying this new platform with us.
Samsung’s smart TV Series is an industry first that will make gamers happy.”
Samsung has also revealed the new Galaxy S6 smartphone, which is set for release on November 10.
It will be the first device to feature a curved display with Gorilla Glass 4, and it is said to feature the same Snapdragon 821 processor, 6GB of storage, 32GB RAM, 16MP camera, and 4,800mAh battery as the Galaxy S5.
