Posted February 11, 2019 12:17:13A man accused of killing his wife in a heated argument with her father over money has been charged with first-degree murder.
The Associated Press has learned that 27-year-old Andrew James Pemberton was charged Monday in connection with the July 15 shooting death of his wife, 33-yearold Nicole Pembert, in the home they shared in Lake Worth.
The AP obtained a copy of a probable cause affidavit filed in federal court Monday charging Pemberthon with second-degree intentional homicide, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.
Police say Pemberts father, Robert Pembertons, had a history of domestic violence and had threatened to shoot his son and his family.
Pemberton’s attorneys have said he acted in self defense, and his attorney says he has suffered from mental illness since his arrest.
Preevyton was released from jail after posting a $20,000 bond.
His next court date is scheduled for Feb. 23.
